About This Audiobook
If you ever ran a minion build in Diablo, Accidental Necromancer is going to make sense to you fast. Selena Serrano is a first-year med student who was ready for exam stress, not the end of the world. Then a mysterious Event kills the power and brings magic back, and the cadavers in her Gross Anatomy class rise as zombies. The blurb calls it the Magipocalypse. Selena absorbs some black mana stones, becomes a necromancer more or less by accident, and starts raising an army to carve out a sanctuary in a city overrun by goblins, rat-men and giant spiders. Her roster runs from skeleton warriors up to a fireball-spitting T-Rex skeleton named Sue. I'm going off the numbers here, not my own ears: 4.7 from 22 Audible ratings, and one reviewer calls Erin Bateman's narration terrific. Listeners like Selena as a smart, sassy lead and see a lot of room in the magic system. A reviewer who still enjoyed it points out the survival-camp structure is familiar if you've done a few system apocalypses. About 12 hours, so it won't eat your month. Book 2 is on Kindle preorder for December 16, and there's no audiobook date yet.
