RE: Birth

About This Audiobook

Adom is 79 and sick, with a lifetime of regrets, when the world ends. With his heart giving out, something appears and asks if he'd like to try again. He shakes on it and wakes up on his old school grounds, sixty-seven years back, with everything he knows still in his head. New Game+ with the save file carried over, basically, and anyone who has rolled back a bad deploy has to respect a 67-year rollback. He'd like to eat well and see the world this time, but first he has to stop the apocalypse he already lived through. Aethon is pitching it at fans of The Beginning After the End and Mother of Learning. The author goes by Ace and wrote it as a Royal Road serial first. Book 2 is already up for Kindle preorder (January 20, 2027), but there's no date for its audiobook. I haven't listened yet, so I'm going off the Audible page: 4.8 from 66 ratings since the audiobook came out in October 2026, and Daniel Wisniewski, who also reads Mage Tank, has a 4.9 for performance. One reviewer says the last quarter is peak fiction but the first half felt disjointed to them. A 3-star review says it overstays its welcome. At 37 hours, that's the complaint I'd weigh most.
